“I dress for the walk between my apartment and the bodega. Everything else is just an audience.”

Sasha keeps a Google Doc titled 'things I'm allowed to want'. There are fourteen items on it. She buys roughly one per quarter, wears it daily for a month, then files it into her wardrobe like an asset acquired. Her rules: no zippers she can't reach alone, no shoes that announce themselves, and nothing in a colour she can't pronounce.

Mary Janes as the new loafer. The flat shoe is finally allowed to have a strap.

“A good jacket is a kind of mixer. It balances everything else you're doing that night.”

Félix works mostly at night and dresses for the temperature of a green room. He owns four coats, six knits, and an embarrassing number of identical white tees. He talks about a garment the way he talks about a sample — what year, what room, what survived. Anything too new feels, in his words, 'undercooked'.

“An object only earns weight by being carried. A bag, a chair, a coat — same rule.”

Mae's work table is white oak, her chair is a Prouvé, and most of her wardrobe is one of three greys. She buys once a season, almost ceremonially, and tracks each piece in the same notebook she uses for material samples. She is not interested in clothes that age — only in clothes that wear in.
